Asian Dresser finale

This is how I found it...
Tucked away in a thrift shop!!

I almost passed it up...
but like a good thrifter I saw beyond the clutter and had a vision!!

For $100 I brought the dresser (I mean buffet) home
and explained my vision to my handy hubby!!

He got to work on sanding and preping...

...and more sanding and preping!!

Turquoise is my favorite color and exactly what my dining room needed!!

I recently recovered our dining room chairs in a colorful fabric.
I love how this color works with the fabric!!

I still need to style my buffet but I love the way it turned out!!
OOhhhh...ahhhhh!!

Just in case you forgot...
This is what I had before!

and this is what it looked like before:

and now it looks like this:

It's pure serenflipity!!

Asian Dresser

My Recent Thrift Store Find

I found this beauty at a thrift store in Los Alamitos.
I have been looking for a longer buffet to replace this one.

I paid $100 for this Asian inspired dresser.
It's in pretty decent condition!!
It's made of oak and has dove tail mitered drawers!!

 I especially love the bottom...
The dresser rests upon a black base.
My plan is to paint the wood part turquoise
and the base a shiny black!!

I will keep you updated on the progress of this
Project Serenflipity...

Thrifty {10}

It doesn't matter if it's a garage sale,
thrift store, estate sale or a flea market!!
This is my hobby!!
 I love 'Thrifting'!!

{10 Reasons why I like Thrifting}

{1}  The Thrill of the Hunt:
Thrifting can take you in a number of directions!!
You may have something in mind
but 9 times out of 10 you'll walk out
with something completely different!
For me, the best part about thrifting is waiting
for that special item to pop into my hands (or feet)...

{2} Serendipity:
When you find the right piece of art
or the perfect side table
you know it was just meant to be!!

Your heart skips a beat...
You feel like doing a cartwheel...
Everything gets a little blurry...
You know the feeling!!
That's Serendipity!!

{3} Visualizing the outcome:
As soon as you see it...
you can picture it on the wall
or in your dining room!

Strip it!
Sand it!
Paint it!

{4}  People watching:
Don't you just love watching what everyone else is buying?
I see their purchases and can't help but wonder
where they are going with their treasures??

I especially love the elderly!!
I love to hear them reminisce about how they remember when...!!

{5}  Wheeling and Dealing:
Wheeling and dealing can be tricky!
You want to get the best price for your purchase
but not at the risk of offending the seller!
I find asking the price of a piece
and then slashing 20%-40% works best!!
Asking $10 ;Offer between $8-$6
But it also depends on how badly you need the item!

{6}   Adding to a collection:
Don't you just love it when you find that
special something to add to your others just like them??

{7}   Flipping the found object:
After some sanding, some primer and a few coats of paint
I knew this baby would make the perfect dining room buffet!

Voila!!
{8}   My Family enjoys it too!!:
It's more fun when those you love join you in your passion!
I'm lucky that even my little guy likes treasure hunting!!
(I give them $5 to treasure hunt too
and they always find a little something
to keep them coming back for more!!)

{9}   No buyers remorse:
I usually get a great bargain
so I hardly ever feel guilty about spending too much money!
Especially at the garage sales!!
I save my husband lots of money at the garage sales!!
Hehehe!!

{10}  Finding a home:
Picking out the best spot in my home
for my treasure...
that is my favorite thing to do!
